Genetic Basis?

Do dark under eye circles have a genetic basis? My parents don't have them and neither does my brother, so if they are genetic, I don't know where they came from.

you are right it has genetic basis..but it not the only thing that causes dark circles..it can also occur from stress, less sleep etc

Yes, In my opinion this is because of tension and stress.

Mostly talking about the genetic trait for it, not the exhaustion-caused dark circles. I'd like to think that since it can be genetic, there has to be some sort of evolutionary purpose for it. There is no agenda. Every genetic change that survives does not need to have an advantage. Even a change that is disadvantageous or less likely to survive, may survive anyway by chance. A simple human evaluation is good enough that a person will not look farther for any other advantage.
