What exactly is rosacea? I know it involves redder skin, but I also heard that sometimes people who think they have adult acne actually have rosacea.

People with rosacea look like they are blushing. Their skin is very sensitive and they get outbreaks that can sometimes seem like acne, only the whole area is red and it goes way beyond pimples.
OK, so the redness spreads beyond the blemishes. What negative effects (besides appearance) does having rosacea entail? What are the treatment options for those who suffer from this condition?
Rosacea is a chronic condition and rarely resolves without treatment. Mild rosacea can be limited to mild redness of the cheeks. However, in the most severe forms, the skin overlying the nose can become permanently swollen and red (called rhinophyma) because of dilated blood vessels and abnormal enlargement of oil glands.
