Surgery scars can still stick around for a period of time after the surgery. Although this is a normal occurrence, still it is so unsightly to look at. One of the best ways to cover or hide scars is by utilizing a scarf to cover scars while wounds are still in the healing process. Hiding scars from the face or neck will remove any self-consciousness or worry you may feel while you are exposed to the public. Here are tips on how to creatively wear scarves to hide surgery scars:
Tip #1: Choose lightweight scarves.
Just make sure to choose lightweight scarves in silk or silk blends to wear on the head or around your neck. Silks are comfortable to wear. Never use rough materials that could cause some irritation to the skin especially if wounds are not yet completely healed.
Tip #2: Position your scarves gently.
If you are trying to hide a facelift scar or if you just had your ear pinned, be gentle in positioning your scarf and be sure not to tighten it too much. Try to make some space by fitting your finger on the inside part of the scarf. Choose a soft and large scarf so that it would still be fashionable to look at. Fold the large scarf in half diagonally and bringing the two opposite ends together. Bend your head forward and wrap the folded side of the scarf across your forehead. Now bring your head upright and secure the scarf at the back of your neck. You can have your hair down or style it into a bun.
Tip #3: Buy scarves in different colors.
As much as possible, buy different colors of scarves so that you can choose to match one with the color of your dress. Choose scarves that have attractive colors. You’re not only trying to hide those scars but you’re also being fashionable.
Tip #4: Create your own look.
If you want a headband style look, create a triangle by folding the scarf diagonally. Begin by folding the scarf from the pointed side to the folded side in 2 to 3 inch sections. Make sure the fold is pressed down tightly. Once you finished folding the scarf, flip your head down and wrap it at the nape of the neck. This will create a wide headband that is ideal to wear when ears are pinned back or surgeries on the neck. You can also create a different style to cover your neck scar by wrapping it around with a loose knot to secure.
Tip #5: Use a large scarf for neck surgeries.
For neck surgeries, hide neck scars by using a large scarf. Twist the scarf loosely and wrap it around your neck. The excess fabric will hide surgery scars. Another way is to fold the scarf diagonally and create a triangle. Get the two bottom ends of the scarf and secure it behind the neck. Allow the remaining portion of the scarf to hang loosely forward to cover any scars on the chest. This technique is best for someone who has undergone a thyroid surgery.
Wearing scarves has been popular around the world, especially to women. Women wear scarves because they want to be fashionable, to keep them warm during winter months, for religious reasons, or simply to hide surgery scars and blemishes.
